Counselor Derek Chollet will lead a delegation to Singapore and Seoul, the Republic of Korea (ROK) April 13-17. Joined by Ambassador and head of the Sanctions Coordination Office Jim O’Brien, Counselor Chollet will engage with senior government leaders and key stakeholders on bilateral and regional issues.
In Singapore, Counselor Chollet will meet with senior officials to discuss the U.S.-Singapore Strategic Partnership and reiterate our shared commitment to ASEAN centrality and a peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific region. He will also discuss with government officials’ efforts to coordinate on Burma and other regional and global challenges. In meetings with academics and analysts, the Counselor will discuss top global and regional issues. In meetings with key Singaporean banks, the Counselor and Ambassador O’Brien will review U.S. sanctions regarding Burma.
In the ROK, Counselor Chollet and Ambassador O’Brien will meet with senior officials to discuss a wide-range of topics to advance the U.S.-ROK global partnership and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. He also looks forward to discussing the ROK’s expanding global role with opinion leaders.
