Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken will participate in a signing ceremony to renew the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Department of State and #AfghanEvac on Monday, June 12, at 1:00 p.m. The event will take place at the National Museum of American Diplomacy and will be hosted by Coordinator for Afghan Relocation Efforts (CARE), Mara Tekach.
#AfghanEvac is a coalition of more than 200 organizations working alongside the U.S. Government to support Afghan relocation efforts. The volunteers represent all 50 states and a cross-section of America.
Secretary Blinken will give remarks recognizing the volunteers’ contributions during Operation Allies Welcome and Enduring Welcome and reaffirming the Department’s commitment to continued efforts to relocate and resettle eligible Afghan allies and their family members. Coalition Founder and President Shawn VanDiver will join Secretary Blinken and will also provide remarks as they sign the updated MOU to renew the public-private partnership between the Department of State and #AfghanEvac.
The event is pooled for in-person press coverage. It will be streamed live on the Department homepage and the Department YouTube channel .
