Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs James C. O’Brien will travel to Sofia, Bulgaria; Bucharest, Romania; Bern, Switzerland; and Ljubljana, Slovenia April 15-19, 2024. In Sofia, Assistant Secretary O’Brien will participate in the Black Sea Security Conference of the International Crimea Platform to underscore the United States’ commitment to a secure, prosperous, interconnected, and democratic future for the Black Sea region.
In Bucharest, Assistant Secretary O’Brien will have bilateral meetings with senior officials. While in Bern and Ljubljana, Assistant Secretary O’Brien will lead bilateral strategic dialogues. During the trip, Assistant Secretary O’Brien will emphasize strengthening regional security and economic cooperation, energy security, and democratic resilience.
