Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs James C. O’Brien will travel to Tbilisi, Georgia, and Podgorica and Kotor, Montenegro, May 14-17. In Georgia, he will meet with representatives from government, civil society, and the private sector to express the United States’ enduring commitment to the Georgian people and to Georgia’s desire for a peaceful, prosperous, and secure Euro-Atlantic future.
In Montenegro, Assistant Secretary O’Brien will take part in the Western Balkans Growth Plan Regional Leaders’ Summit in Kotor alongside EU partners and senior government officials from across the region. His engagements at the summit will focus on the regional economic integration and growth opportunity offered by the EU’s Western Balkans Growth Plan and reinforce the United States’ strong support for the Western Balkans’ path toward EU membership. Assistant Secretary O’Brien will also meet senior Montenegrin government officials to discuss our bilateral cooperation in support of Montenegro’s full Euro-Atlantic integration.
