Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard R. Verma will travel to San Diego, California, and Tijuana, Mexico from August 28 to 30. In San Diego, Deputy Secretary Verma will meet with sailors assigned to the USS John P. Murtha. He will also hold meetings with Members of Congress. The Deputy Secretary will visit the South Bay International Wastewater Treatment Plant to observe U.S. government projects to protect the binational Tijuana River watershed and reduce cross-border wastewater flows. He will tour the San Diego Passport Agency and meet with officials at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, the busiest land border crossing in the Western Hemisphere, to see first-hand the ways U.S. Customs and Border Protection is working with our Mexican partners to bolster our mutual security and prosperity. In Tijuana, he will tour the United States Consulate and meet with consulate staff to discuss cross-border issues.
