As part of the United States’ global efforts to create additional pathways for economic equity and opportunity, the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs announced today that the Fortune-U.S. Department of State Global Women’s Mentoring Partnership will get underway May 8-26, with AIG, CVS Health, H&R Block, LogicMonitor, Mastercard, Match Group, Morgan Lewis, Morgan Stanley, Nationwide, NYSE, Principal Financial, SAP, Serta Simmons Bedding, and Solera Capital serving as mentor organizations. Now in its 18th year, the partnership pairs leading American women executives from within the Fortune Most Powerful Women’s network with emerging women in business from Egypt, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Kenya, Laos, Poland, Serbia, South Africa, Turkey, and Zambia.
The program will begin in Washington, D.C., with orientations and meetings at the U.S. Department of State, as well as a visit to Theodore Roosevelt High School where the international businesswomen will speak with students about the importance of equitable business opportunities and creating a global network of women leaders. They will then travel to Des Moines, IA; Kansas City, MO; New York, NY; Columbus, OH; Philadelphia, PA; Providence, RI; and Austin, TX to begin their 10-day mentorships at their mentors’ organizations. At the end of the program, the mentees will join their mentors in New York City to solidify action plans and return home to accelerate positive change in their communities.
Over 366 alumnae of this program have worked with mentors from prestigious U.S. companies, such as Guardian Life Insurance, Johnson & Johnson, and Accenture. Vital Voices Global Partnership is the implementing partner of the mentorship program.
