Secretary Blinken’s Call with Italian Foreign Minister Tajani

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani about the grave situation in the Red Sea following Houthi attacks on the DELTA SOUNION oil tanker and the urgent need to prevent an environmental disaster.  They discussed ongoing efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and urged maximum restraint among all relevant parties.  The Secretary and Foreign Minister underscored the importance of supporting Ukraine’s defense.  They also discussed regional security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.
