Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke today with United Arab Emirates Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Secretary and the Foreign Minister discussed ongoing diplomatic efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza that provides for the release of the hostages, a significant and sustained increase in humanitarian assistance, and improved humanitarian access throughout Gaza. They continued discussions about the post-conflict period in Gaza and how to establish governance, security and reconstruction to build lasting peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians alike. The Secretary thanked the Emirates for its significant humanitarian support for Gazans. Secretary Blinken and Sheikh Abdullah also discussed shared objectives for promoting regional stability, including efforts to deescalate tensions between Israel and Hizballah, and end the conflict in Sudan.
