Ambassador Julie Turner, Special Envoy on North Korean Human Rights Issues, will travel to Europe November 5-8, 2024. Ambassador Turner will visit London and Paris to meet with government officials, civil society organizations, and North Korean escapees to discuss human rights issues in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), ways to support the escapee community, and the inextricable link between human rights abuses in the DPRK and international peace and security. She will then travel to Geneva for the DPRK’s Universal Periodic Review (UPR) at the UN Human Rights Council. The United States remains resolute in its commitment to engage with other governments bilaterally and in multilateral fora to promote human rights in the DPRK, highlight human rights abuses and violations, and demand accountability for those responsible.
